Contact a dentist for a prompt assessment if toothache is severe or does not improve with painkillers. Do not delay assessment when it occurs with fever or swelling of the cheek or jaw. Call before travelling to confirm that the clinic can see you; a directory listing does not mean it is open around the clock.

Go to emergency care immediately for swelling around the eye or in the neck, or swelling of the mouth or neck that makes breathing, swallowing or speaking difficult. Do not wait for a routine appointment in these situations.

While waiting, ask a pharmacist about a painkiller suitable for you and follow the package instructions. Avoid very hot or cold foods. Painkillers ease symptoms but do not treat the cause. Find contact details through [dentists in Jordan](<https://clinicsjo.com/en/specialty/dentistry>).
