Choose softer foods briefly and continue gentle cleaning around the appliance. Orthodontic wax may help a rubbing area as instructed. Ask about a pain reliever suitable for your age and health, following its label and avoiding duplicate ingredients.

### When to contact the team

A wire cutting the mouth, broken part or pain that does not settle needs advice. Do not forcefully adjust the appliance yourself. Marked swelling, fever or difficulty swallowing or breathing requires urgent assessment rather than waiting for the next adjustment.
