### Several days beforehand

Read the appointment information early and contact the unit if instructions are missing. Report diabetes, kidney or heart disease, possible pregnancy and all medicines, including blood thinners and diabetes or weight-management injections. Do not stop these yourself; a specific plan may be needed.

### During preparation

Follow the permitted food and fluid instructions and exact laxative timing. Good preparation allows the bowel lining to be seen; inadequate preparation may mean repeating the procedure. Stay near a toilet and ask about hydration within any medical fluid restrictions.

### When to contact the unit

Call if you cannot finish the preparation or develop persistent vomiting, marked dizziness or unusual pain. Arrange an escort and transport if sedation is planned, and follow driving restrictions afterwards. Morning and afternoon procedures may use different preparation schedules.
