The surgeon checks corneal shape and thickness, prescription stability and the eye surface. Keratoconus, thin corneas or significant dry eye may make LASIK unsuitable. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can affect measurements, so discuss timing before making a decision.

Some refractive error may remain, and reading glasses may still be needed with age. Ask about persistent dryness, halos and difficulty driving at night, as well as what happens if the result falls short of your expectations. A promotional success percentage cannot describe your personal risk.
