Dr Walid Sarhan is a senior consultant psychiatrist in Amman. He graduated from Ain Shams University in 1979, obtained Royal College of Psychiatrists membership and the Jordanian Board in 1985 and became a Royal College fellow in 1996. His UK training covered adult, older-person, child, adolescent and community psychiatry. He helped establish psychiatric training programmes in Jordan and managed Al Rashid Hospital from 1996 to 2005. His work includes research, books and public education. He edited the Arab Journal of Psychiatry from 2010 to 2023 before becoming honorary editor. He continues private consultations with his mental-health team on Yajouz Street.
