Do fillers last longer than Botox, and how should the choice be made?

Quick answer

Some fillers last longer than Botox, but duration depends on the material and treatment area. Botox reduces activity in selected muscles, while fillers add volume or alter tissue contours. The choice should start with the concern and risks rather than longevity alone.

Materials are not interchangeable

Most fillers are absorbed over time; some are longer-lasting or permanent. Permanent material can be harder to manage or remove. Ask what will be injected and whether it is approved for the intended site. Not every filler can be dissolved.

Plan the result and follow-up

Discuss realistic appearance, limits and possible future sessions. No injection or a different approach may be preferable to choosing the longest-lasting substance. Ask about practitioner experience and complication management.

Urgent signs after filler

Injection into a blood vessel can cause serious harm. Unusual pain, skin colour change or visual disturbance during or after treatment needs urgent intervention. Do not wait for ordinary swelling to settle or attempt self-treatment.
