How can I choose school or home education for an autistic child?
There is no best setting for every autistic child. What matters is safe learning, communication support, sensory adjustments and participation. Compare actual provision, the child’s needs and preferences, and family capacity; check local educational requirements before changing arrangements.

Look at what the school provides
Ask about staff experience, adapted lessons, bullying and anxiety plans, quiet spaces and communication tools. An “inclusive” label does not prove that these supports exist. Behaviour and exhaustion may differ between school and home.
Consider the demands of home education
Discuss who will teach, how progress will be assessed, and opportunities for relationships and support services. Consider time, cost and family strain. Educational rules and funding described on overseas websites do not automatically apply in Jordan.
Keep the decision reviewable
Agree on clear goals with educators and clinicians. Investigate severe anxiety or persistent refusal rather than punishing it. Environmental changes or another educational arrangement may help. Review learning, well-being and relationships after a change.
