Pregnancy is possible after sleeve gastrectomy, but planning usually waits until weight and nutrition stabilize. Around 12 to 18 months is often advised, with individual variation. Reaching a particular date does not replace pre-pregnancy assessment.

Plan with both care teams
Coordinate obstetric and bariatric care to review weight, medicines, blood tests, supplements and an appropriate folic-acid dose. Fertility may improve after surgery, so discuss reliable contraception during the waiting period.
If pregnancy occurs sooner
Arrange early pregnancy and nutritional care without assuming harm is inevitable. Additional tests, fetal-growth monitoring and supplement adjustments may be needed. Do not independently take high-dose vitamins or follow a weight-loss diet.
Do not wait with concerning symptoms
Persistent vomiting, inability to drink fluids or severe abdominal pain warrants urgent assessment. Tell the team what surgery you had and when; abdominal symptoms should not automatically be attributed to pregnancy.
