Spondylolisthesis is a condition in which a vertebra of the spine slips forward over the one below it, often in the lower back. Its causes are degenerative with age, congenital, or stress-related in athletes. Much of it is symptomless, and it may cause back pain, stiffness, and sometimes pain radiating to the leg.
