Is Ozempic associated with pancreatitis, and what are the warning signs?
Pancreatitis is included in Ozempic’s warnings. Severe or persistent abdominal pain, particularly radiating to the back with or without vomiting, needs urgent assessment. If this is suspected, do not take another dose and seek care rather than assuming it is routine nausea.

Not every stomach ache is pancreatitis
Common digestive effects can occur, but severity, persistence and associated symptoms change the response. Examination, blood tests and sometimes imaging establish the cause; a short online description cannot diagnose it.
Discuss your history
Mention previous pancreatitis, gallstones, alcohol use and other medicines. A prior episode requires an individual benefit-risk assessment rather than one universal rule. Do not start or restart after concerning symptoms without the prescriber’s decision.
Keep a glucose plan
If a diabetes medicine is stopped for a suspected problem, ask about monitoring and alternatives if needed. Do not independently stop essential insulin. Repeated vomiting or inability to drink alongside pain should not wait for a routine appointment.
