Is travel safe during pregnancy, and what should I check before flying?
Travel may be possible in an uncomplicated pregnancy, but suitability depends on health, gestational age, destination, journey length and access to care. No single week is a universal flying clearance. Review both outward and return journeys with your maternity team and airline.

What should be discussed?
Complications or a likelihood of needing emergency care may make postponement more appropriate. Check maternity services at the destination, insurance coverage and medical-letter requirements. Seek advice on local infections, vaccines and medicines rather than assuming every preventive medicine is suitable in pregnancy.
During longer journeys
Move and stretch your legs regularly, drink fluids and wear the seat belt correctly below the bump. Your clinician may suggest compression stockings when appropriate. Do not start a blood thinner yourself simply because you are travelling.
When to seek help
Bleeding, fluid leakage, severe pain or sudden breathlessness needs urgent assessment. Carry pregnancy information and contact details. An airline allowing you to board does not replace an individual medical assessment of whether the trip is suitable.
