Before you choose a pediatric dentist
A pediatric dentist looks after the teeth and gums of children from the first tooth through the teenage years, with a focus on prevention, calm handling of anxious children, and care for children with special needs. Children need frequent check-ups and a baby tooth can start hurting without warning, so a nearby clinic makes visits easier for parents and child alike. The list includes dentists who have added pediatric dentistry to their profile, so ask what training the dentist has in this field.
Whether you searched for “kids dentist near me”, “dentist for children near me”, “paediatric dentist near me” or “pediatric dentist near me”, this page lists the published profiles in Jordan and sorts them by distance from you.
When to see a pediatric dentist
A first visit when the first tooth appears or before the first birthday, then regular check-ups timed by the dentist according to how prone your child is to decay.
Chalky white or brown spots or holes in baby teeth, or pain and swelling in the gum, since decay in baby teeth can spread quickly.
A fall onto the mouth that chips, loosens or pushes a front tooth into the gum, or a tooth that turns gray in the days after a knock.
Preventive visits for fluoride varnish, and fissure sealants that coat the grooves of permanent molars soon after they come through.
Thumb or pacifier sucking beyond age 3 or 4, night-time grinding, teeth that are slow to come in, or a baby tooth lost early that may need a space maintainer.
What to bring to your visit
A health summary for your child: allergies including to medicines, regular medicines, long-term conditions, the vaccination card, and any developmental or sensory needs that help the dentist adapt the visit.
Notes on daily habits: milk or feeds at night, sweets and juices, how often teeth are brushed and with which toothpaste, and any thumb or pacifier sucking.
Prepare your child with simple, positive words, avoid scary ones such as “needle”, “hurt” or “pull out”, do not share your own bad dental experiences, and pick a time when your child is rested rather than tired or hungry.
Any previous dental X-rays or reports, and your insurance card after asking which treatments it covers for children, such as fillings and sealants.
When to go to the emergency department instead
Facial swelling in a child that spreads under the eye or towards the neck, with fever, drowsiness, refusal to drink, or trouble swallowing or breathing: call 911 or go to emergency.
A blow to the head along with a fall onto the mouth, followed by loss of consciousness, repeated vomiting, unusual sleepiness or confusion: call 911.
A deep cut in the lip, tongue or inside of the cheek that gapes or keeps bleeding despite pressure, or a change in how the teeth meet that may mean a jaw fracture.
A knocked-out permanent tooth in a school-age child: keep it in milk and reach a dentist within the first hour, or an emergency department if none is available; a baby tooth is never put back.
General information only; it does not replace a medical consultation.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find a pediatric dentist near me?
Tap “Use my location” at the top of this page and allow location access: the pediatric dentists are re-sorted by distance from you, with the distance on every card. If you prefer not to share your location, pick your governorate or district instead.
Does ClinicsJo keep my location?
Your approximate location (rounded to about 100 metres) is only used to calculate distances for this search. It is not linked to an account and it is never added to the page address, so a shared link does not reveal where you are.
Where are pediatric dentists listed in Jordan?
ClinicsJo lists 13 pediatric dentists in 3 governorates. Most are in Amman (10), Aqaba (2), Jerash (1). Each governorate link below opens the full local list.
What if there is no pediatric dentist close to me?
The search widens step by step (5, 10, 25, 50, 100 then 200 km) until it finds listings, and tells you how far it went. You can also pick a neighbouring governorate from the list.
Can I see who is available now?
Turn on “Available now” to keep doctors whose declared working hours include the current time in Amman. Hours are declared by each clinic, so call before you go.
What is the difference between a pediatric dentist and a general dentist?
Pediatric dentistry is a specialty that requires further training after general dentistry, focusing on dental development in children, prevention, ways of easing fear, and care for children with special needs. Many general dentists also treat children. This list includes dentists who have added pediatric dentistry to their profile, so ask the clinic what qualification the dentist holds if your child is very young or needs special care.
Are baby teeth worth treating if they will fall out anyway?
Yes. Baby teeth help children chew and speak, and they hold space for the permanent teeth growing underneath. Untreated decay can cause pain and an abscess that may affect the permanent tooth, or lead to an early extraction that disturbs how the adult teeth line up. Some baby molars also stay in the mouth until around age 10 to 12.
