How we chose this list
Every matching clinic profile in this country was scored out of 100 for how complete and checkable its published information is, and the highest scores appear here in order. Featured placement does not change a profile's score, and the score does not measure treatment quality or outcomes — it tells you how much you can check before you call.

When do you need a heart stress test?
A heart stress test records your ECG, pulse and blood pressure continuously while you walk on a treadmill or pedal a stationary bike at gradually increasing effort. Many coronary artery problems stay hidden at rest and appear only when the heart muscle needs more blood. The test therefore watches the heart under load.
A cardiologist may request one when:
- chest pain, pressure or breathlessness comes on with exertion and eases with rest
- you are being assessed after a heart attack or a coronary procedure such as stenting, to judge your exercise capacity
- palpitations or rhythm changes seem to be triggered by effort
- your doctor wants to see how your blood pressure responds to exercise
- a cardiac rehabilitation programme needs a safe starting level
The test is not right for everyone. It has genuine contraindications, so a clinical assessment decides whether it suits you; asking for it is not enough. If you cannot walk far enough, or your resting ECG is hard to interpret, your cardiologist may suggest another approach. Options include a stress echocardiogram or a test in which medication, rather than exercise, puts the heart under load.
Warning signs that need emergency care, not a booked test
A stress test is a planned investigation. It is not a way to check worrying symptoms that are happening now. Call 911 immediately if you have:
- chest pain or pressure at rest, or pain that lasts more than a few minutes
- pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck or back, especially with sweating, nausea or breathlessness
- sudden, severe shortness of breath
- fainting or near-fainting
- sudden weakness on one side of the body, a drooping face or difficulty speaking
Do not wait for a clinic appointment, and do not drive yourself to hospital.
How to choose among the clinics here
If you searched for the best heart stress test clinics in Jordan, remember that this list is ordered by how complete each profile's published information is. The order does not measure treatment quality. These practical points matter more for this test:
- Related tests in one place. A stress test often leads to a next step, such as an echocardiogram, Holter monitoring, stress echocardiography or catheterisation. Several profiles list these services together, which can mean fewer separate appointments.
- Single-cardiologist clinic or multi-specialty centre. Four entries are clinics run by one named cardiologist, so you see the same doctor before and after the test. The three outpatient centres also link doctors in diabetes, kidney disease and internal medicine. That can help if you have several long-term conditions.
- Where the test happens. At least one profile says the doctor works across the clinic and associated hospitals. Ask where your treadmill test will actually take place.
- Hours that fit the test. The visit usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. Choose a slot when you are not rushed and are not coming straight from a demanding day. Confirmed hours differ between the clinics, and one is open on Fridays.
- Insurance. Four clinics list Arab Orient Insurance on their profiles. For any clinic, confirm your own cover directly.
- Reporting and follow-up. Ask who reads the result and whether you will discuss it on the same day.
What to expect at the first visit
The process usually runs in five stages: a pre-test assessment, preparation on the day, the graded exercise phase, stopping and post-exercise monitoring, and interpreting the result.
Before the test
The doctor reviews your symptoms, history and resting ECG to rule out reasons not to proceed. Ask the clinic for its own preparation instructions. Common advice includes:
- wearing comfortable clothes and proper walking shoes
- avoiding a heavy meal shortly before the test
- avoiding caffeine or smoking for a set time, if asked
Bring a full list of your medicines. Some heart medicines can affect the result, but never stop or change any medicine unless your doctor tells you to.
What to bring
- your ID and insurance card
- any referral letter
- previous ECGs, echocardiogram reports, catheterisation or stent reports, and hospital discharge summaries
- your current medication list
During and after the exercise
Staff attach electrodes to your chest and a blood pressure cuff to your arm. The treadmill speed and incline rise every few minutes. The walking phase usually lasts about 6 to 15 minutes, depending on your capacity. Tell staff at once if you feel chest pain, dizziness or unusual breathlessness. The test stops when you reach your target, when symptoms appear or when the recording shows changes. Monitoring then continues for 5 to 10 minutes while you recover.
Questions to ask
- What exactly are you looking for in my case?
- What happens if the result is unclear?
- Will I need further tests, and can they be done here?
- Are there any activity limits until I get the result?
Insurance, fees and booking: what to ask before the appointment
Ask these questions when you book:
- Is the stress test done on the same day as the consultation, or does it need a separate appointment?
- Is the consultation priced separately from the test? What is the total?
- Does my insurer need pre-approval or a referral for an exercise stress test?
- Is the clinic in my insurer's network for both the consultation and the test?
- Who reports the result, and is a follow-up visit included?
- What is the cancellation or rescheduling policy?
At the multi-specialty centres, appointments are arranged by physician name. Confirm that your chosen cardiologist is attending that day, and check which floor or clinic to go to.
Getting there
Each profile shows its own city, district and street address, and the page shows its map location. Several clinics are inside larger hospital or medical buildings, so ask which building, floor and entrance to use. Also ask about parking. Plan to arrive 15 to 20 minutes early. Rushing up stairs or hurrying through traffic just before an exercise test is best avoided. Most people can go about their day afterwards, but ask the clinic whether you should bring someone with you, especially if you have had symptoms with effort.
Checklist before you book
- My symptoms are planned-test symptoms, not emergency symptoms (if in doubt, call 911)
- I have checked that the clinic publishes exercise stress testing and any follow-up tests I may need
- I know where the test itself will take place
- I have confirmed the cardiologist is attending on my appointment day
- I have asked about the cost of the consultation and the test, and any pre-approval my insurer needs
- I have the clinic's preparation instructions
- I have asked my doctor about my medicines without stopping any on my own
- I have packed walking shoes, comfortable clothes, my ID, my insurance card and my previous reports
- I know who will explain the result and when
