How we chose this list

Every matching doctor profile in this area was scored out of 100 for how complete and checkable its published information is, and the highest scores appear here in order. Featured placement does not change a profile's score, and the score does not measure treatment quality or outcomes — it tells you how much you can check before you call.

  • Profile verified by the platform15
  • Approved reviews (number and average)20
  • Published years of experience (up to 25)15
  • Published qualifications10
  • Written professional biography8
  • Profile photo5
  • Published services8
  • Listed insurers7
  • Confirmed opening hours6
  • Published consultation fee3

Ties are broken by the number of approved reviews, then published years of experience. Confirm the service, branch, appointment, fees and insurance coverage with the practice before visiting.

When do you need cardiac catheterization?

In cardiac catheterization, a cardiologist passes a thin, flexible tube (a catheter) through a blood vessel, usually at the wrist or groin, up to the heart. Contrast dye and X-ray imaging then show whether the coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked. This part is called coronary angiography. The procedure can also measure pressures inside the heart and help assess valve problems. If a significant narrowing is found, it can sometimes be treated during the same procedure. The doctor widens the artery with a balloon and usually places a stent (angioplasty, or percutaneous coronary intervention).

Most people do not book a catheterization directly. It usually follows a cardiology consultation and simpler tests such as an ECG, echocardiography or an exercise stress test. A cardiologist may discuss catheterization because of:

  • chest pain or tightness on exertion that suggests angina
  • an abnormal stress test or imaging result
  • a recent heart attack or a suspected acute coronary problem
  • a narrowed heart valve, such as aortic stenosis, that needs assessment before treatment is decided
  • known coronary artery disease when symptoms change

Book a cardiology visit if you notice:

  • chest discomfort with activity that eases with rest
  • new or worsening breathlessness
  • palpitations or unexplained tiredness
  • ankle swelling

It is also worth a visit if you have several risk factors, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking or a strong family history of heart disease.

Warning signs that need emergency care

Call 911 straight away if you or someone with you has any of the signs below. Do not wait for a clinic appointment and do not drive yourself.

  • chest pain, pressure or squeezing that lasts more than a few minutes, or keeps coming back
  • pain spreading to the arm, jaw, neck, back or upper stomach
  • sudden shortness of breath, cold sweat, nausea or light-headedness
  • fainting, or a very fast or irregular heartbeat with feeling unwell
  • sudden weakness of the face, arm or leg, or difficulty speaking

After a catheterization, get urgent help for any of these: bleeding or fast-growing swelling at the puncture site, a cold, pale or numb hand or leg, or chest pain that returns.

How to choose among the doctors here

All seven doctors list cardiology with a sub-specialty in cardiac catheterization and practise in Jabal Amman, but their published services differ. Note how the list is ordered: if you searched for the best cardiac catheterization specialists in Jabal Amman, the order here reflects profile completeness, not treatment quality. Use these practical points to compare:

  • Diagnostic or interventional services. Dr. Dina Qasem Al Shamaileh's profile lists diagnostic catheterization and coronary angiography. Several others also list angioplasty and stenting or percutaneous coronary intervention. If a stent has been mentioned to you, ask how the decision is made and what happens if treatment is needed during the same procedure.
  • Specific conditions. Dr. Munther Awni Al Saafin and Dr. Imad Al Haddad list aortic stenosis assessment and TAVR. Dr. Al Saafin also lists carotid artery catheterization, and Dr. Al Haddad lists peripheral arterial disease follow-up. Dr. Marwan Adeeb AlNimri lists cardiac pacing assessment.
  • Tests under one roof. Many of the profiles list ECG, echocardiography, stress testing and Holter monitoring, which can mean fewer trips. Dr. Zaher Kasih and Dr. Al Shamaileh also list transoesophageal echocardiography and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring.
  • Where the procedure takes place. Catheterization is done in a hospital catheterization laboratory, not in the consulting room. Ask which hospital the doctor uses and whether your insurer covers it.
  • Language. Dr. Al Saafin lists English and Russian; Dr. Al Haddad lists Arabic and English.
  • Hours. Dr. Al Shamaileh's clinic is open until 20:00 and Dr. AlNimri's until 19:00, Saturday to Thursday. Several clinics close early on Thursday.

What to expect at the first visit

The first appointment is usually a consultation, not the procedure itself. The doctor will ask about your symptoms, examine you and review previous tests. They may order an ECG or echocardiogram, and only then discuss whether catheterization is worth considering.

What to bring:

  • a list of all your medicines and supplements, especially blood thinners, diabetes medicines and blood pressure tablets (do not stop any medicine on your own before a procedure; ask the doctor)
  • previous ECGs, echo reports, stress test results, blood tests and any earlier angiography reports or CDs
  • details of allergies, particularly to contrast dye, iodine or latex
  • information about kidney problems, bleeding disorders or possible pregnancy
  • your insurance card and ID

Questions worth asking:

  • Why is catheterization being recommended for me, and what are the alternatives?
  • Will access be through the wrist or the groin?
  • What are the main risks in my situation?
  • Will I go home the same day or stay overnight?
  • When can I drive, work and exercise again?
  • Who do I contact if I have a problem afterwards?

Insurance, fees and booking: what to ask before the appointment

None of these profiles publishes a consultation fee, so ask the clinic directly when you book. It helps to confirm:

  • the consultation fee, and whether tests such as an ECG or echo are included or charged separately
  • whether your insurer needs a referral or pre-approval for the consultation and for any catheterization
  • which hospital would perform the procedure, and whether it is in your insurer's network
  • what is covered if angioplasty or a stent is needed during the same procedure
  • whether a deposit or co-payment applies

Arab Orient Insurance appears on six of the seven profiles. Dr. Nadine Mohammad Aktham Hiari's profile lists 12 insurers, including GlobeMed, MedGulf, Jordan French Insurance Company (JOFICO) and Royal Care. Insurer agreements can change, so confirm cover with both the clinic and your insurer before the visit.

Getting there

Jabal Amman is a central district of the Amman governorate, the capital and heart of Jordan's healthcare system. If you live in Abdoun, Sweifieh, Shmeisani, 7th Circle, Gardens, Khalda, Tla' Al-Ali, Dabouq or Jubeiha, allow extra time for traffic and parking, especially in the late afternoon. Use the map location on each profile to confirm the exact building before you set off.

You may need to travel to a hospital for the procedure itself, so plan that trip separately. Arrange for someone to drive you home after a catheterization. Sedation and the puncture site make driving unsafe for a period your doctor will advise.

Checklist before you book

  • Check the profile's services: diagnostic catheterization only, or angioplasty and stenting as well
  • Confirm the clinic's hours, especially on Thursday
  • Ask for the consultation fee, since none is published here
  • Check that your insurer covers the clinic and the hospital where procedures take place
  • Ask whether pre-approval is needed
  • Gather previous test reports and a full medicine list
  • Note any allergy to contrast dye and any kidney problems
  • Plan transport and a companion for procedure day
  • Know the warning signs, and call 911 for chest pain that does not settle

Frequently asked questions

How was this list of cardiac catheterization specialists chosen?
The platform has eight profiles in this scope, and seven appear here. They are ordered by a 100-point score of how complete and checkable each profile is. The score counts platform verification, approved reviews, published experience, qualifications, biography, photo, services, insurers, confirmed hours, published fee and map location. Featured placement does not change the score. The order does not measure treatment quality or outcomes.
Is cardiac catheterization the same as coronary angiography?
They are closely related. Cardiac catheterization is the general procedure of passing a thin tube through a blood vessel to the heart. Coronary angiography is the part that uses contrast dye and X-rays to show the coronary arteries. Angioplasty and stenting are treatments that may be carried out through the same catheter when a significant narrowing is found.
Do I need a referral to see a catheterization specialist in Jabal Amman?
You can usually book a cardiology consultation directly with the clinics listed here. Your insurer may still require a referral or pre-approval, especially for tests or for the catheterization itself, which takes place in hospital. Check with both the clinic and your insurer before booking so you know what will be covered.
Which doctors on this page list aortic valve or TAVR services?
Dr. Munther Awni Al Saafin and Dr. Imad Al Haddad both list aortic stenosis and intervention-options assessment, along with Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR). Both see patients at Jordan Hospital and Medical Centre Outpatient Clinics. Whether a valve procedure is suitable depends on an individual assessment, so discuss your own situation at a consultation.
Which clinics here offer evening appointments?
Dr. Dina Qasem Al Shamaileh's clinic lists hours of 10:00–20:00 from Saturday to Thursday. Dr. Marwan Adeeb AlNimri's clinic lists 10:00–19:00 on the same days. Several other clinics close earlier, particularly on Thursday, so check each profile's confirmed hours before you plan your visit.
Are consultation fees published for these cardiologists?
None of the seven profiles currently publishes a consultation fee. Ask the clinic when you book. Find out whether tests such as an ECG or echocardiogram are charged separately, and how any catheterization would be billed through the hospital and your insurer.
What should I do if I have chest pain right now?
Do not wait for a clinic appointment. Call 911 for chest pain, pressure or tightness lasting more than a few minutes, or for pain spreading to the arm, jaw or back. Also call for breathlessness, cold sweat, fainting or sudden weakness. Do not drive yourself to hospital. Book a cardiology visit only for mild, stable symptoms that are not getting worse.

This page helps you compare published profiles; it is not medical advice and does not rank clinical skill. In an emergency call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
